Good Morning All!
I know I'm way behind on posting, it's been an interesting and busy year so far. January was Vogue Knitting Live! New York, February was Stitches West in Santa Clara (both were so much fun, saw some old friends and met some new ones), and in a couple weeks I'll be heading down to Sin City (aka Las Vegas) for the nextVogue Knitting Live!. Hopefully I'll see some of you there. Things will be a little quieter until July when I'll be at the Sequim Lavender Festival and then Vogue will be back in Seattle (yeah!) in November. There may be a few more shows that area as yet unconfirmed. I'll keep you posted on new shows coming up. Have a great weekend!
I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a healthy and happy Holiday season. Regardless of your religious or non-religious beliefs, I think this is a time that reminds us to help our fellow man and to be thankful for those we love. I know that there are so many people out there that are homeless, or simply don't have enough money to put the traditional Thanksgiving dinner on the table, and I sincerely hope they were able to have a meal and shelter. This is a bittersweet holiday for me this year. I had the joy of re-marrying a man I have loved for many years, and the pain of losing my oldest sister to brain cancer, a glial blastoma, on September 20th. I can't begin to tell you how much she meant to me growing up, and losing her has been very difficult for me. As I think about the coming holiday season, and trying to build up my business sales, I still want to help people who have not been as fortunate as I have been in my life. I have never been wealthy, but I have never gone hungry and I am lucky enough to have a wonderful family that loves me and two jobs that I absolutely love, dental hygiene and metalsmithing as well as my health. In my Etsy shop I usually give free shipping in the US for the Christmas/Hanukkah season, and I am doing the same this year. Starting tomorrow, Black Friday, through December 18, I am giving free 1st class shipping to US addresses, use coupon code Free Shipping, but I want to go one step farther this year. To honor the memory of my sister and those of you who bother to read my blog, I want to donate 50% of the purchase price of any item to cancer research through the end of the year. There isn't anything you have to do for the donation to happen, but Etsy has a spot where you can add a note to the seller. If you saw this blog entry, please just write "for cancer research" in the note section. I don't think it will be tax deductible, but I will know that you care, and this year that will be the best gift I'll receive.
It's hard to believe how quickly this year has passed by. As we prepare for that wonderful Thanksgiving meal with family and friends and give thanks for our blessings and those special people in our lives, some of us are also thinking about who we have to buy gifts for for Christmas or Hanukkah, and what to get them. Every year we look and look for that one perfect gift that falls within our budget. These days, that can really be a challenge.
The handcrafted jewelry and notions that I create in my studio right here in the Pacific Northwest are quality pieces that your loved one can enjoy for years to come, and at reasonable prices. My website portfolios exhibit many of the pieces I've created over the years and my etsy shop will have all the current pieces available. You'll find necklaces, earrings, shawl pins, cufflinks, braclets, mostly made from silver but other metals are available. Custom orders are available if you'd like something a little different than what you see on my site here or on Etsy, or if you'd like something I've made in the past. Keep in mind that you only have about a month to insure you receive a custom order by Christmas Day or the first day of Hanukkah.
In the next few days I'll be updating my store and adding new items. Summer is just getting started here in the Seattle area, it seems. There are all sorts of wonderful events to bring us out to the parks and to concerts. The Puyallup Fair will be happening soon in September. I've just finished some wonderful casual pieces for those relaxed summer outfits to keep you in style for the rest of the summer.
It's almost time for VKL Pasadena once again. This will be my second year in Pasadena and I'm so excited! I love seeing all the wonderful fibers and accessories available. I hope that everyone will like the shawl pins and other jewelry that I'll have at my booth. Keep in mind that I can make something just for you if you don't see what you're looking for. See you soon!
Check out my shop in the upcoming weeks for some new shawl pin designs for all those lovely shawls you'll be knitting after the Vogue Show! Hope to see you in Chicago!
Morning Everyone! I'm so excited to be going to Chicago as a vendor in the Vogue Live Knitting Show. This will be my second show with Vogue, and I'm sure it will be as great an experience as Pasadena was. Hopefully I'll see some familiar faces and lots of new ones. If you can make it I'll see you there!
The show was a great success and so much fun! I met lots of really nice people and even have some new designs from customers requests. I'll soon be having knitting rings available and more of a selection of stitch markers. I'll be on to Chicago in October for the next Vogue Show, hope to see you there!
Hello again! Very exciting news! I will be a vendor at the Vogue Knitting Live Show in Pasadena, CA in April, the 17-19th. I will have some new pieces as well as some that are on this site and in my Etsy shop. There will be 250 15% off coupons available at the show. I hope to see you there!
